Create you own personalised, solid wood, chopping board!
Brilliant for families, food-lovers and aspiring chefs. Ideal as a gift to celebrate a birthday, Christmas or special event. Or just as a simple thank-you to the hard-working mum, dad or all-round kitchen god where you live!
We take the IKEA Proppmatt large chopping board - 450x280x16mm - and custom-carve it with YOUR UNIQUE MESSAGE up to 96 letters long.
Each chopping board can be provided with the carved messaging either bare - allowing everyday use - or inlaid with ebony wood-filler and covered with a water-based clear satin lacquer.
IMPORTANT! Please note inlaid chopping boards are intended for presentation-only! They provide much sharper contrast helping your message to stand-out, but neither the lacquer nor the inlay will survive daily use with sharp knives!
Both bare and inlaid chopping boards should be hand-washed or wiped clean - they are NOT dishwasher-proof given very high dishwasher temperatures.
STEP 1
Choose your preferred large chopping board variant:
a) FONT - Choose Arial, Times New Roman, or Segoe Script (a more cursive font)
b) LAYOUT - Choose how you want the message to appear, with text at:
- TOP (shorter messages)
- BOTTOM (shorter messages)
- TOP + BOTTOM (messages with an obvious single split)
- CENTRE LEFT (longer messages)
c) FINISH - Choose either Bare, or Inlaid with ebony wood-filler and covered with a water-based clear satin lacquer.
Please note your final item price depends on the options you choose.
STEP 2
To fit into this large chopping board design, please add YOUR UNIQUE MESSAGE to a MAXIMUM 96 letters, then select LEFT, CENTRE or RIGHT text alignment within your chosen LAYOUT. Your message will then be sized to fit, and aligned as per your preferences.
You may also (optionally) advise:
- Any words within your message we should emphasise with larger, bold font
- Where to split a TOP + BOTTOM message if this is your preferred layout

At ecoCarve, we are open-minded about humorous adult language, but we will not carve messages OR names that any reasonable person would regard as hate speech or offensive on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender or age.
IKEA states: "Renewable material (wood). We have clear requirements for all the wood we use, including a ban on illegally harvested wood."
In terms of Forestry, IKEA states "Wood is an excellent material from a quality and environmental perspective, as long as it is legally produced and comes from responsibly managed forests. IKEA only accepts wood from high conservation value forest or intact natural forest if they are verified as responsibly managed"
All undercoats, paints, fillers and lacquers used by ecoCarve are water-based.
